Hi!
We’re Georgia and Franzi, the duo behind Margaree Cider. We met in Cape Breton in 2014 and bonded over a love of growing things, making things by hand, and finding excuses to climb trees. 🙂
Exploring our new home, we were struck by the sheer number of apple trees—thriving behind old barns, in ditches, and deep in the woods. In conditions very different from the recquired growing conditions we’d read about. These trees were wild, resilient, and full of fruit. Through plenty of trial, error, and deep dives into everything cider-making, we realized these untamed apples were actually perfect for cider—packed with layers of flavour and complexity that had been bred out of apples meant for fresh eating.
With nothing added, these apples naturally ferment into a cider that truly reflects this place—its seasons, its soil, its untamed character.
That’s what Margaree Cider is all about.
